Early in my career at PokerStars, one of my managers and mentors imparted valuable wisdom to me. He stressed the significance of the Mobile Apps team, of which he, I, and a designer were members, in leading the company’s transition from a desktop-centric model to a mobile-first approach. He emphasised that we needed to approach our tasks with the focus and efficiency of a SWAT team, in order to succeed in developing a comprehensive suite of mobile apps, where other larger teams had previously fallen short.

Since then, I have carried this philosophy with me, and have consistently adopted it as a core element of my professional approach. My teams and I were able to successfully release a suite of gaming and non-gaming apps at PokerStars, create over 65 new Apple-compliant gaming apps for Entain within a six-month period, launch the first-ever mobile apps for Germany’s largest land-based casino operator, Eyas, across multiple markets, and overhaul the verification process for Student Beans by integrating a six-tiered authentication system.

I specialise in bringing together, at times, the most conflicting of characters, to ensure everyone is united in working towards a common goal. So as to ensure contributors are able to work in an optimal capacity, I approach team collaboration by adopting a fully inclusive culture, where everyone’s contributions and opinions are taken into consideration, leading to optimal output, and creating a dynamic, proactive team cohesion in the process.

My foremost objective is to prioritise customer satisfaction. I endeavour to represent the voice of the customer to the business, as opposed to the voice of the business to the customer.

As part of my approach to work, I emphasise on delivering frequent, smaller updates rather than infrequent, larger updates. This not only provides app store optimisation (ASO) benefits for mobile, but also enables an early evaluation of the viability and value of a feature, thereby allowing for continuous refinement, improvement, and enhanced steering.

I value leading a cohesive team and consider open and clear communication to be essential for an agile work environment. I believe that maintaining open channels of communication throughout the day is fundamental to successful product delivery.

In my pursuit of technical excellence, I believe in setting clear objectives and ensuring that all team members have a shared understanding of the end goal. I trust each team member with their areas of responsibility and encourage them to be creative in achieving our collective vision.
